Make your own Easter Bonnet

2 sheets of heavy paper- at least 18" square in the color of your choice

1 package of bias seam binding tape (matching or contrasting the heavy brim paper)

1 sheet each of Pink, Yellow, Purple and Green Paper (Construction or Craft Paper works here)

Paper Glue

Scissors

Hole Punch

Instructions:

Cut two 16" circles for the hat brim from heavy paper.

Cut a 7" circle out of the middle of both.

Cut twelve 1" x 11" strips out of the same paper. Fold both ends of each strip up ¼".

Tuck folded ends of one of the strips under the inner circle of the top brim piece

allowing the strip to gently bend upward.

Continue adding criss-crossing strips until a solid crown is formed.

Carefully glue the bottom brim piece in place covering the ends of the strips.

Glue bias seam binding around the outside brim edge and over the crown edges.

Cut out flowers and leaves. Bend pieces up slightly on the dotted lines. This will add depth to the flowers. Assemble flowers by layering pieces. Use a small dot of glue in the center of each piece to secure. Punch out small circles with a standard hole punch for flower centers.

Glue the flowers around the crown of your hat. Glue on leaves, tucking them under flower petals.

Ribbons may be attached to the bonnet, either on top or under the brim so your bonnet can be tied under your chin.
